Ahwazi Political Organisations Announce the Launch of the Coordinating Council of Ahwazi Organisations

On 9th January 2026 five Ahwazi national political organisations has announced the official launch of the Coordinating Council of Ahwaz Organisations, in a move aimed at unifying political efforts, coordinating national action, and strengthening organised collective engagement at a critical moment marked by widespread popular protests and rapid internal, regional, and international developments within the political geography known as “Iran”.
According to the statement, the process of consultation and coordination among the participating organisations began in December 2022 and included regular meetings, political discussions, and joint activities. These cumulative efforts led to the formal establishment of the Coordinating council in September 2025, culminating today in the public announcement of its official launch as a unified national framework.
The newly launched Council seeks to harmonise political positions, enhance organised national action, and open channels of cooperation with all active Ahwazi national forces, both inside Ahwaz and in the diaspora, in pursuit of the legitimate national and human rights of the Arab people of Ahwaz, including freedom and the right to self-determination.
The statement also announced the formation of a presidential Council tasked with overseeing the political, organisational, and media responsibilities of the Coordinating Council, in line with the requirements of the current phase and the need to strengthen Ahwazi national presence across all arenas.
Below is the full statement:
Statement of the Launch of the Coordinating Council of Ahwaz Organisations
Guided by our historical and national responsibility to unify the Ahwazi ranks, integrate efforts and capacities, and respond to the call of our great Ahwazi people; and in recognition of the sensitivity and gravity of the current phase amid the rapid developments unfolding across the political geography known as “Iran” at the domestic, regional, and international levels.
The undersigned Ahwazi organisations hereby announce the official public launch of the Coordinating Council of Ahwaz Organisations, as a comprehensive national framework aimed at coordinating joint action, unifying perspectives and positions, and strengthening organised national engagement.
The signatory organisations affirm that the process of consultation and coordination began in December 2022 and continued throughout this period through regular meetings, political and organisational discussions, as well as joint activities and shared positions. These efforts were directed toward building a unified national vision and organising the struggle of the Arab people of Ahwaz in pursuit of freedom and the right to self-determination. These cumulative endeavours led to the establishment of the Coordinating Council in September 2025, while today’s announcement marks the transition to a public and declared phase, necessitated by the realities of the current moment.
The Coordinating Council further affirms its commitment to openness and engagement with all active Ahwazi national forces and organisations, both inside Ahwaz and in exile, and calls upon them to join the path of national unity, continue the collective struggle, and work toward the achievement of the legitimate national and human rights of our people.
In this context, the Coordinating Council announces the formation of a Presidential Council entrusted with direct responsibility for political, organisational, and media affairs, in accordance with the demands of the current phase and with the aim of strengthening Ahwazi national presence across all fields.
