The 41st anniversery of Mahammara massacre

41 years ago on such days, end of May 1979, the iranian Navy forces under the leadership of Madani and ordered by Iran’s supreme leader Khomaini, attacked the Ahwazi cultural center in Mohammara and committed a massacre with around 500 deaths and hundreds of injured.

Soon after 1979 revelation in Iran, Ahwazi people established cultural centers in many cities of Ahwaz with Mohammara center and leadership. Demonstrations in many cities of Ahwaz have demanded Ahwazi civil and political rights.

A representative group of Ahwazi people carrying Ahwazi demands from Khomeini’s regime went to Tehran and met with Khomeini and other iranian officials and government. The demands were stopping discrimination, allow teaching with Arabic in Ahwaz, paying a small portion Of oil income for improving the damaged Ahwazi society during Pahlavi shah era and end poverty and hunger in Ahwaz, choose Ahwazi local leaders for Ahwaz, let people decide about self governance in Ahwaz.

The representative group was not welcome and face accusations From the regime leaders. Shortly after the representative group left Tehran, Iranian Governor General Madani accuses the cultural center for having weapons and gave short deadline for returning them. Even 41 years after iran couldn’t prove that the cultural Ahwazi center Possess weapons except five simple 5 hunt weapons which they received for the Iranian authorities early 1979 for keep the city safe. Finally on 4am Wednesday 30th May 1979 General Madani ordered the Navy forces to attack the Mohammara cultural center. The attack started brutally When the inhabitants heard the fire of weapons, people demonstrated to stop the attack of their cultural center but the Navi killed everyone from children and women and old people.

Many arrested people were gathered in a school yard and executed by the regime militia under The leadership of Mohammad Jahan Ara. This pro regime religious militia had played a main role in making Mohammara unsafe and accusing Arabs for being separatists and sending many fake reports to Tehran.

After this massacre demonstrations started around Ahwaz , Abbadan , Falahieh cities and many Ahwazi protesters were killed by Iranian forces in these cities. Today after 41 years still none of the regime men who participated in this massacre have not been trialed!
