The arrest of Ahwazi activists on the eve of Eid al-Fitr
PADMAZ- Security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have arrested a number of civil Ahwazi activists on the Eid al-fitr eve during May. The arrest of these activists in the cities of Mashour (Mahshahr), Khafajieh (Susangard) and Ahwaz comes as a preventive action for stopping the expected annual demonstrations in Eid al-fitr, the end of Ramadan holiday.
According to human rights sources in Ahwaz a number of Arab activists were arrested by the intelligence service on 21st May in Malashiyeh district, south of Ahwaz.
The names of some of the arrested activists are as follows:
1- Ebrahim Silawi, 2- Qassem Silawi, 2- Khaled Silawi, 4- Jaafar Silawi, 5- Faisal Silawi 6- Ayoob Khasraji, 7-Yousef Khazraji , 8- Jamil Silawi, 9- Khalil Silawi (31 years old) , 10- Ebrahim Korooshawi (37 years old), 11- Mohammad Korooshat (37 years old), 12- Abdolkarim Khosarji, 13-Mohammad Sharifi, 14- Kazem Abbas Darjal, 15- Riyad Zahiri, 16- Sajjad Al-Hayaei, 17- Hosein Baledi.
According to the same report; during the first half of Ramadan, more than 18 young people from Koora district in the city of Mashour (Mahshahr) were arrested by the intelligence service, and their families are still unaware of the reason for their arrest.
On May 6th 2020; A number of Arab activists in the Ain Aldawwa (Ain Do) district in western Ahwaz, Seyed Majid Hashemi (35-year-old), Seyyed Ali Hashemi (18 years old), and Jafar Sayahi ( 32 years old) were also arrested.
Human rights activists from Ahwaz added that from the city of Khafajieh the following were arrested on Eid al-Fitr eve: Faleh Mazraeh, Mehdi Moghinami and Rasoul Nisi.
Many video clips were distributed on social media which presents attacks of the police and intelligence forces on people’s homes in Malashieh, Zargan and other districts in Ahwaz.
On first Eid al-fitr after 15th April 2005 Ahwazi Entefada, a huge demonstration was held by Ahwazi people. Since that time, every year on Eid al-fitr Ahwazi people demonstrate against the regime.
